Safety, harmony, enjoyment, variety, cleanliness, stability and learning are important attributes of Chrislar Farm. The Chrislar staff and clients work together to support these attributes and are equally and individually responsible for making them a reality. We strive to have all those involved at Chrislar reach his/her own goals within their budget and within our standards of high quality.
The facility is normally open Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday we are closed during the day and open 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for horse owners/leases only. Holiday hours and changes to the normal opening hours are posted.
Chrislar starts customers without experience in beginner/private lessons, graduates them to group lessons, then introduces them to one-day activities such as trail rides in the abutting State Forest, on-premises fun shows and activities, and off-premises one-day local horse shows using Chrislar-owned horses. Customers are encouraged to take lessons from all of the instructors of the Chrislar Team to learn the unique attributes and techniques or each instructor.
Customers that advance and become horse owners/lessees can participate in trailered activities, such as beach rides, Acadia trail ride, and multi-day shows; and qualify to participate in the Grand National and World Championship Horse Show in Oklahoma City during October.
Horse owners/lessees stabling their horse(s) at Chrislar may participate in the above lesson and ride offerings based on their interest and qualification level, or may have their horses stabled at Chrislar for training only. Horse owners/lessees are invited to witness or participate in the training of their horse(s) so they can learn training progress and understand horse motivation and communication methods. Horse owners/lessees may have any of the Chrislar Team train their horse to learn the unique methods of each Chrislar Team member.
We founded Chrislar Farm & Equestrian Center 40 years ago to serve children from age 6, to adults age 80, interested in learning to ride, for recreational riding, and to participate in horse shows, in a family-friendly atmosphere. Please feel free to talk to either of us about our STABLE OF STARS, what ‘The Chrislar Team’ has to offer, and how you can have fun with your horse and reach your goals safely.
Training of young or untrained horses has priority use of the indoor arena daily 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Horse owners and lessee’s may ride inside during this time-frame on a non-interfering basis.
Beginner riders schedule half-hour private lessons with their instructor to ensure that fundamental skills are learned thoroughly. When ready, beginners graduate to one hour group lessons with 4-8 other riders of similar goals and ability. Group lessons have priority use of the indoor arena afternoons from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Horse owners and lessee’s may ride inside during these times on a non-interfering basis. Early mornings, early afternoons, and Monday evenings the barn is open exclusively for horse owners and lessee’s, when there are no lessons or training scheduled.

Horse Show Competition Rates are available in detail on a separate form distributed every January for that year's shows. Farm-owned horses are available for students to compete with at local shows scheduled by the Farm with instructors available for coaching/teaching at the show. If you are interested in competing at higher level Morgan Horse Shows, this will require horse ownership (horses of a higher caliber) that must be active in the training program.
If you are interested in competition, let us know... we are most happy guide and support you.
